PostCrossing!

Ok I am going to follow in my little sister's footsteps...
I joined Postcrossing today! I am looking forward to using it to teach
the kids about countries and coultures. I have a large wall map of the
world and I am going to Have the kids locate the countries on the map of both the cards we send out,
and the cards we receive! I am not sure how I will mark them or how we will differentiate between the ones we send and receive yet.

I am planning on blogging about the ones we send and the ones we recieve,
and what we learn about each country along the way. I was doing this once
before when we lived in Naples, but haven't done it much since we have
moved. The one I did back then was mostly only the US, and was a christian homeschooling pastcard exchange.
(this one is still around but not really active anymore) I felt safer knowing that I wouldn't be geting any naked girls inviting
me to some beautiful sandy beach cards.  I am still, not wanting those
kinds of cards, if we do I will just not let them have the card displayed
in their book. Or maybe I will cover it with a picture of the country or
 something. :>)

Speaking of the book here are a few pics of the book we already have
going, we are going to continue filling it up. Below the photos I have written out a  list of the cards we have

Museum

MEGALODON!!!!

We went on Saturday to the Florida Museum of Natural History. It was a nice trip we went mainly to see the Megalodon. It is quite interesting to see how large this shark was! Because Sharks are mainly all cartilage the only evidence of these large creatures are their teeth, jaw, and back bone! Here the kids are standing in a steel representation of 60 ft. megalodon.

And here is Josef with one of the many hanging shark models

I believe this one was a nurse shark.

And here are a few more photos from our day at the museum.

Rebecca looking at samples of shark speces.

Rebecca in front of a set of mammoth skeletons

Do you know what an owl pellet is? It is the "leftover from an owl's meal! and Josef and Rebecca got to go through one and identify the bones with a tweezer and a magnifying glass.

What a great learning experience that was, it was great to get a chance to see what the owl was eating, much better than just reading about it. I am sure they won't forget this! I know I won't.

This was a really nice day to be at the museum.
